Ingredients

1 store-bought angel food cake (about 10 inches, or 1 homemade using 12 egg whites)

2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Strawberries: In a medium bowl, combine the sliced strawberries and granulated sugar. Gently toss them to coat and let them sit for about 15-20 minutes to release their juices.

Make the Whipped Cream: In a separate mixing bowl, pour in the heavy whipping cream, then add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer, whip the cream until soft peaks form. Be careful not to over-whip to avoid butter formation.

Slice the Cake: Once the strawberries have marinated, carefully slice the angel food cake into 1-inch thick layers horizontally. You can achieve this by placing the cake on a cutting board and using a serrated knife.

Assemble the Dessert: In a dessert serving dish or individual glass cups, place a layer of angel food cake at the bottom. Spoon a generous amount of the macerated strawberries along with some of their juice over the cake. Then, add a dollop of whipped cream on top.

Repeat the Layers: Continue to layer the cake, strawberries, and whipped cream until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.

Garnish: If desired, garnish the top with a few fresh strawberry slices and mint leaves for a pop of color and freshness.

Chill and Serve: For best results, refrigerate the assembled dessert for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled and enjoy the light and refreshing taste of this Strawberry Bliss Angel Food Cake!
