Instructions

Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Make the crust: In a medium bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, 1 egg, and ½ cup melted butter. Mix until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of the greased baking dish to form an even crust layer.

Prepare the filling: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until fluffy. Add in the 2 eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.

Add the sugar and butter: Gradually add the powdered sugar followed by the ½ cup melted butter. Mix on low until all ingredients are well combined and the filling is creamy.

Assemble the cake: Pour the cream cheese filling over the crust layer in the baking dish. Use a spatula to spread it evenly across the top.

Bake the cake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set but still gooey. A toothpick inserted should come out with a few moist crumbs.

Cool and dust: Allow the ooey gooey butter cake to cool in the pan for at least 15-20 minutes after removing from the oven. Dust the top with powdered sugar just before serving.

Serve: Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy the deliciously rich, creamy texture!
