Ingredients

2 cups heavy cream

1 cup whole milk

1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

Zest of 2 oranges

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon orange extract

A pinch of salt

Optional: 1 cup chopped candied orange peel for added texture

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, orange juice, and granulated sugar until the sugar is completely dissolved. This should take about 2-3 minutes.

Stir in the orange zest, vanilla extract, orange extract, and a pinch of salt, mixing until combined. If you’re adding the chopped candied orange peel, fold it in gently at this stage.

Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Typically, this takes about 20-25 minutes, or until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight container. Press a piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap against the surface of the ice cream to prevent ice crystals from forming.

Freeze the ice cream for at least 4 hours, or until firm.

When ready to serve, scoop the ice cream into bowls or cones, and enjoy the creamy, citrusy delight!
