Ingredients
  

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg yolk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup fruit jam (your choice, like raspberry or strawberry)

Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions
 

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

      Beat in the egg yolk and vanilla extract until well combined.

        Gradually add the flour and salt to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

          Using your hands or a cookie scoop, form the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

            Gently press your thumb into the center of each ball to create a heart shape, ensuring there is enough space for the jam.

              Fill each indentation with approximately 1/2 teaspoon of your chosen fruit jam.

                Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

                  Optional: Dust the cooled cookies with powdered sugar before serving.
