Cobbler has a rich history in American cuisine, tracing its roots back to the 19th century. Originally, cobbler was created as a way to utilize fresh fruits, particularly in the summertime when they were in abundance. Early settlers adapted British pudding recipes to create this unique dessert, which quickly became a staple in homes across the country. The name "cobbler" is thought to have originated from the dish's rustic appearance, resembling the cobbled streets of old towns.

Ingredients

1 box of cake mix (yellow or white works best)

1 can (about 15 oz) of fruit pie filling (peach, cherry, or mixed berries)

1 stick (1/2 cup) of unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In the prepared baking dish, pour the fruit pie filling evenly across the bottom, spreading it out with a spatula if needed.

Evenly sprinkle the dry cake mix over the fruit filling. Do not stir; just let it sit on top.

Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix, ensuring to cover as much of it as possible.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

Allow the cobbler to cool slightly before serving. It can be served warm, at room temperature, or chilled. Enjoy it plain or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top.
