Ingredients

For the Cake:

1 box of vanilla cake mix (plus ingredients specified on the box)

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup chopped pecans

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Praline Sauce:

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1/4 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup chopped pecans

For the Frosting:

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup chopped pecans (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Cake:

    - Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the vanilla cake mix box. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.

      - In a bowl, mix the cake mix with the required ingredients (eggs, water, oil) according to package directions.

        - Stir in the melted butter, chopped pecans, and vanilla extract until well combined.

          - Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake according to package instructions, usually about 25-30 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.

            Make the Praline Sauce:

              - In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture comes to a gentle boil.

                - Allow it to boil for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and chopped pecans. Set aside to cool slightly.

                  Poke the Cake:

                    - Once the cake is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes. Using the handle of a wooden spoon or a skewer, poke holes all over the top of the cake, about 1 inch apart.

                      - Pour the warm praline sauce evenly over the cake, making sure it seeps into the holes. Let the cake absorb the sauce for about 30 minutes.

                        Prepare the Frosting:

                          - In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Using an electric mixer, whip on high speed until soft peaks form.

                            - Spread the whipped cream frosting over the cooled cake.

                              Garnish and Serve:

                                - Sprinkle the top of the cake with additional chopped pecans for garnish.

                                  - Serve chilled or at room temperature, and enjoy every indulgent bite!
