Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium recommended)

2 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tbsp cornstarch

2 tbsp vegetable oil (for cooking)

1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Sesame seeds and chopped scallions (for garnish)

Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes if using. Add cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Prep the Vegetables: While the beef marinates, wash and cut the broccoli into florets and slice the red bell pepper. Set aside.

Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

Cook the Beef: Remove the beef from the marinade (reserve the marinade for later). Add the marinated beef to the skillet in a single layer, cooking for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned and almost cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Stir-Fry the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed, then toss in the broccoli and red bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until they are bright in color and slightly tender, yet still crisp.

Combine and Sauce: Return the beef to the pan with the vegetables. Pour the reserved marinade over the mixture and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the beef is fully cooked, coating everything evenly.

Serve: Remove from heat, and garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions. Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.
