Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup beef broth

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp soy sauce

1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

For Mashed Potatoes:

2 lbs potatoes, peeled and diced

½ cup milk

4 tbsp butter

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:

    - In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the diced potatoes. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

      - Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter and milk, and mash until creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm.

        Cook the Ground Beef:

          - In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

            - Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it’s browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat.

              Make the Gravy:

                - To the cooked beef mixture, add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Stir to combine.

                  - If you prefer a thicker gravy, mix the cornstarch with a splash of cold water and stir it into the beef mixture. Let it simmer on low for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

                    Serve:

                      - Place a generous scoop of mashed potatoes on each plate, creating a well in the center. Spoon the beef and gravy mixture over the top, allowing the gravy to cascade down the sides.

                        - Garnish with fresh parsley for a pop of color.
