Ingredients

3-4 pounds beef brisket

2 cups beef broth

1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand)

1 medium onion, sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp brown sugar

1 tbsp smoked paprika

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

8 hamburger buns

Pickles and coleslaw for serving (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Brisket: Trim excess fat from the brisket, leaving a thin layer for flavor. Cut the brisket in half if it’s too large to fit in your slow cooker.

Make the Marinade: In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, barbecue sauce, sliced onion, minced garlic, brown sugar, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using.

Slow Cook: Place the brisket in the slow cooker and pour the marinade mixture over it. Ensure the brisket is well coated. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the brisket is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

Shred the Brisket: Once cooked, carefully remove the brisket from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the meat into bite-sized pieces.

Combine with Sauce: Return the shredded brisket to the slow cooker and stir it into the remaining juices. Let it cook on low for another 30 minutes to absorb the flavor.

Assemble the Sandwiches: Toast the hamburger buns lightly if desired. Pile generous portions of the shredded brisket on the bottom half of each bun. Top with additional barbecue sauce, pickles, and coleslaw if using. Place the top bun on and enjoy!
