Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

3 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

1/2 cup crumbled bacon

1/4 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, soak the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 1 hour. This will make them juicy and tender.

Prepare the Coating: In a shallow dish, mix together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken breasts from buttermilk and let the excess drip off. Dredge each breast in the flour mixture until fully coated, shaking off any excess.

Cook the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the coated chicken breasts and cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.

Make the Creamy Sauce: In the same skillet, add sliced mushrooms and sauté until tender. Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 3-5 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Add Cheese and Bacon: Stir in the shredded Monterey Jack cheese until melted and smooth, and then add the crumbled bacon. Mix well.

Combine: Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet, spoon the creamy sauce over them, and let everything simmer together for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions before serving. Enjoy with mashed potatoes or a side salad for a complete meal!
