- Ground Beef or Turkey: The choice of protein sets the stage for flavor. Ground turkey offers a lighter alternative, while ground beef provides richness and a hearty texture. Both options work well, so feel free to choose based on dietary preferences or what you have on hand.

Ingredients

For the Sloppy Joe Filling:

1 pound ground beef (or turkey for a lighter option)

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon mustard

Salt and pepper to taste

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

For the Cheesy Garlic Bread:

4 slices of thick-cut Italian or French bread

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried parsley (or fresh if available)

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Prepare the Sloppy Joe Filling:

    - In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.

      - Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Sauté until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

        - Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let simmer for 10 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.

          Make the Cheesy Garlic Bread:

            - While the filling simmers, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

              - In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, and dried parsley until well combined.

                - Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on both sides of each slice of bread.

                  - Place the slices on a baking sheet. Layer shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese on top of each slice.

                    Bake the Cheesy Garlic Bread:

                      - Bake the cheesy garlic bread in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges of the bread are golden brown.

                        Assemble the Sloppy Joes:

                          - Remove the cheesy garlic bread from the oven and spoon a generous amount of the Sloppy Joe filling on top of two pieces.

                            - Top with the remaining bread slices, creating a top sandwich layer. (Alternatively, you can serve the filling open-faced.)

                              Serve:

                                - Cut the sandwiches in half if desired and serve warm. Enjoy your Cheesy Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes with a side of salad or fries!
