Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon ground cardamom

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon almond extract

Optional: Sprinkles or edible glitter for decoration

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ground cardamom, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

Add Egg and Extracts: Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter-sugar mixture. Beat until fully combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Ensure not to overmix.

Chill the Dough: Form the dough into a flat disc, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This step helps in rolling out the dough easily.

Roll Out the Dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the dough to about 1/8-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to cut out your favorite shapes.

Transfer Cookies: Carefully transfer the cutout cookies to the prepared baking sheets using a spatula, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake: Bake the cookies for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

Cool the Cookies: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Decorate (Optional): If desired, once the cookies are completely cool, decorate them with sprinkles or edible glitter for an extra festive touch.

Enjoy: Serve the cookies with a warm cup of tea or coffee, or store in an airtight container for later enjoyment!
